Before trusting a result

  1. Open the original source - not only a headline, repost, or search snippet.
  2. Check the author, organization, publication date, and whether the page has been updated.
  3. Separate peer-reviewed research, trial records, announcements, opinions, and personal stories.
  4. For medical claims, look for the study population, evidence level, limitations, and conflicts of interest.
  5. Confirm important information with another credible source and discuss treatment decisions with a qualified clinician.
